Warsaw

Geographically, Poland is in the middle of Europe; politically, it is Europe’s outer boundary, the border between East and West; a strange country under the pressure of stronger neighbors. During the political transformation it moved from a grey, sad reality to “paradise” capitalism. Today, it is the site of Europe’s highest building. Assuming the elevated viewpoint the new structures that create this city’s skyline, and always photographing on the threshold of night and day and looking for specific atmospheric effects, Rogiński investigates the mystery of the urban space, the turbulent history of the past century all but invisible behind the emerging grand vistas of one of Europe’s new capitals, glossing over it’s layeredness and narrative complexity.
